10 Ways To Be More Inclusive

“Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.” – Taylor Swift

Doing what's right and being a good person isn't hard.

  1. Start by recognizing that inclusivity begins with an open mindset, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to diversity.
  2. Be aware of your own biases and actively work to challenge them.
  3. Educate yourself about different cultures, identities, and perspectives.
  4. Create an environment that empowers diversity and encourages everyone to express themselves freely without fear of discrimination or marginalization.
  5. Foster open communication and respectful dialogue among individuals from different backgrounds.
  6. Acknowledge and respect individual differences, including those related to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability, and socioeconomic status.
  7. Create practical initiatives to support diversity and inclusion in your workplace or community. These can take various forms, such as:
    • Recruitment practices that attract diverse candidates;
    • training programs that promote cultural competency and awareness;
    • Partnerships with organizations that advocate for diversity and inclusion;
    • Policies that address discrimination and harassment and support workplace accommodations for marginalized individuals.
  8. Regularly evaluate and reassess your initiatives to ensure they are effective and address evolving needs.
  9. Continuously communicate your commitment to diversity and inclusion and involve the entire community in the process.
  10. Celebrate the successes and achievements resulting from your efforts to create a more inclusive environment.
